AgentInbox Terms of Use
I build AgentInbox to let you search and read email through IMAP or POP3 and optionally send requested messages through SMTP. These terms explain the service boundaries and your responsibilities.

Developer and scope
I develop AgentInbox with help from contributors. Contact hello@umbertogiacobbi.biz for questions about these terms.
These terms cover AgentInbox and its local MCP integration. Your mail provider, GitHub, your assistant and any AI provider have their own terms. AgentInbox is an independent project; naming those services does not imply their endorsement.
Source code and availability
The public AgentInbox source is licensed under MIT. That license governs your rights to use, copy, modify and distribute the licensed code. These terms do not remove rights already granted by it. Third-party components retain their own licenses.
This is a source preview with unvalidated provider and platform paths. The Windows edition is in development and is not offered for purchase on this page. The planned commercial package is MSIX for Windows 11 on x64 and ARM64. Linux and macOS are source-only; you must build and adapt the source yourself. I do not supply commercial binaries or support for those platforms.
Use accounts and data you are allowed to access
Connect only accounts you own or are authorized to use. Follow your organization’s rules and the applicable provider policies. You are responsible for choosing which accounts to connect and which assistant receives the results.
When SMTP is enabled, your assistant can submit messages immediately without another confirmation in AgentInbox. Specify the intended account, recipients, content and attachments before asking it to send. A test email is also a real submission.
Keep your device, operating-system account and assistant configuration secure. Do not publish passwords, private messages or local configuration in GitHub issues or public support discussions.
What the app can and cannot do
AgentInbox uses IMAP or POP3 to read mail and optional SMTP to submit messages you request. It sends no mailbox delete commands and does not mark IMAP messages as read. Provider retention policies can still affect messages. POP3 is INBOX-only, with no unread flags or server folders; its searches use headers and email Date values.
Password or app password is the default. Outlook.com requires modern authentication; Exchange Online removed Basic authentication for IMAP and POP3. Optional Microsoft OAuth2 requires explicit selection and suitable public-client app registration, and tenant policies can restrict it. There is no Google OAuth or automatic method fallback. All mail connections require validated TLS or STARTTLS; presets do not promise compatibility.
Results depend on provider availability, limits and the scope of your search. Searches can be partial or fail. Check important information against the original message. An SMTP server accepting a message does not prove delivery; check an uncertain submission before trying again.
The assistant may send results to a cloud service, produce inaccurate summaries or take actions using its own tools. AgentInbox does not control those separate tools. Review the assistant’s settings and outputs before relying on them.
Provider accounts, assistant subscriptions and AI usage may have separate charges. AgentInbox does not include those services or promise uninterrupted access to them.
Warranty and support
The MIT-licensed source is provided as is, with the warranty and liability terms in that license. Nothing here excludes rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be excluded, including applicable consumer rights for a future paid edition.
I do not promise a particular response time or service level unless separately agreed in writing. You can report issues on GitHub or contact me, without including private mailbox content.
Stopping use and changes
You can stop using AgentInbox at any time. Remove connected accounts, revoke app passwords or Microsoft consent where applicable, and follow the privacy policy’s cleanup steps to remove local data and assistant copies.
I may update these terms as the app changes. Updates do not revoke existing MIT rights or retroactively remove rights attached to a purchase. Changes requiring notice or consent will be handled before they apply.
